KAOS Mailing Lists |
This is a list of public KAOS mailing lists. If you know of any others, you'll know how to access them. Some of these lists can be also be viewed here. There may even be a list we've forgotton to put on these pages. Others are hosted elsewhere.
All of these lists, except for the discussion list use Mailman commands to subscribe/unsubscribe and so on, so if you don't usually have web access, you can subscribe by sending a message with the word 'subscribe' in the body to the address you get by adding '-requests' to the list name (eg kea-requests@kaos.org.nz). You can get more information by sending mail to the request address with the word 'help' in it.
Try not to be a tosser.
Also known as The KAOS mailing list, this is the high-noise, low-signal arena for discourse, distraction and ego defenestration. It is generally preferred that you only post if you have some clues and a basic command of written language. The inability to properly operate a caps lock key is generally flamed on. And don't post attachments, either!
There are a lot of KAOS Canterbury people on here. It seems they don't have much better to do.
This list is currently maintained by Mouse, and can be subscribed to by sending an email message to majordomo@paradise.gen.nz with the line 'subscribe kaos' in the body of the message. For other information (including instructions on how to unsubscribe) send mail to majordomo@paradise.gen.nz containing the line 'help kaos'.
This is the announcement list for any social events related to KAOS and its numerous satellite states. Social events include parties1, drinkies2, gaming conventions and UCMRS feasts. The list is moderated by a circle of Secret Masters who strive to ensure that only the purest party announcements reach the list (ie, no sneaky postings of parties at other people's houses...).
To send an announcement to the list, use this handy form. To find out the dos and don'ts of KAOS parties, have a look at the Party section in the '99 (Canterbury) Manifesto.
If you want to hear about the latest killing round, it will be posted here (and not on any of the other lists). If you want to run a round yourself, see Q, or the Dictator. See also the killing round pages.
If you want to be involved in Pacifist Warfare or various other 'expeditionary' (i.e group) activities, this is the list to be on. If you've got any bright ideas, you can post them on this list or contact the Lieutenant Colonel. See also the KEA pages .
KAOS has a fine tradition of confusing the general public for our own amusement. If you've got what it takes to carry on this noble cause (a certain lack of shame helps) then you might want to join this list. If you've a diabolical plan, you can post it on the list or contact Q. See also the Stunts pages .
If you're interested in mailing lists, these might also be of interest:
1. Obviously. A party of course is a drinkies with loud music and dancing.
