The Current KAOS Website
That's right, this is the 1998 version. It's a good website (1998 was a good year) but it's not the current one. Here's a link to the current site. That's right, this was added sometime after 1998. I can tell you're a clever monkey. I'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to put one over on you. The KAOS Mailing List The KAOS Mailing list is maintained and provided free of charge courtesy of Mouse. It was set up as an area for people to chat and keep in touch with each other while away from the group. What it gets used for is a place to test dew claws as well as chat and keep in touch with each other while away from the group. To join the KAOS Mailing List send e-mail to majordomo@paradise.gen.nz with the message "subscribe kaos" in the body of the message. If you should ever wish to stop receiving this constant stream of drivel send e-mail to the above address again with the message "unsubscribe kaos". The Party List The Party List was originally started by me (Gold) and was used exclusively for announcements of any type. The reason there were two lists was that many people on the Party List didn't want to receive idle chat as they were using work accounts or just couldn't be bothered with it. The Party List, when taken over by Matt, was about twice the size of the KAOS Mailing List. You can add your name to the Party List by filling out the form found on the KAOS Calander. The KAOS Calendar The KAOS Calendar was put together by Matt. It allows anyone to post to the Party List and have their event posted on the KAOS Calendar at the same time. Again, this can be done by filling out the form found on the KAOS Calendar Pages. When I find the time I'll modify Matts scripts so the standard navigation bars are available. Till then you'll just have to find your own way back. ICQ - Instant Messaging ICQ (I Seek You) from Mirabilis has become an indispensable communications tool among those of us that are on line. With ICQ you can form a list of other people that you know are on the 'net and ICQ will tell you when they come on-line and go off-line. ICQ has many more features that make it worth while. When a person is on-line you can start a chat session and drag others into the chat session so you can conference with more than one person like IRC. You can also send files directly to a person, send instant messages, send multiple messages, start internet awear games and collaboration tools and some other stuff that I forget right now. You can get ICQ from Mirabilis, but their server is fairly popular so I'd suggest you hit TUCOWS or download.com for it instead. IRC - Global Chat Thanks to Schmoo we now also have our very own IRC channel permanently open on the Undernet. IRC is like a conference in ICQ accept no-one needs to start it. When you log-on to the IRC server the channel will be there. There may even be someone in it. |
